River Geul

In 1485, the mouth of the Geul in the river Meuse was relocated from the viilage Geulle to more than a kilometer south near the hamlet of Voulwames.
In the 19th century the river the Geul frequently caused flooding at the Zinc Mine Plombières, so that the river Geul was canalized for three kilometres. In July 15th 2021 the river Geul flooded again heavily with a lot of damage in the neighbouring villages.
