About Zuid-Limburg
Zuid-Limburg
The beautiful river valleys of Meuse and Geul and old farms characterize the region in which Meerssen is located.
This certainly applies to the characteristic village of Bunde, which is known for its beautiful Bunderbos. Numerous springs are present in this hillside forest, which provides a rich flora and fauna. The village Geulle is equally characteristic, with Geulle Castle from 1620 and the atmospheric water mill as the main attraction.
Municipality Meerssen was once inhabited by the Romans and even visited by Charlemagne/Carolus Magnus and became a pilgrimage center with the Basilica of the Holy Sacrament as showpiece.
